Finding an island getaway that’s easy to travel to, lined with beaches, and filled with fun activities can be tricky. If beaches and good times are what you’re looking for, then search no more.

Block Island is the ultimate beachcombers paradise with over 17 miles of sandy beach stretching across the entire perimeter of this famous New England destination. When you stay with us at Champlin’s, you’ll be in the prime location to explore the entire island. Be sure to check out Champlin’s Choice, where you can access kayaks, paddle boards, or a fleet of bikes to cruise over to any of the beaches. Whether seeking solitude, or a family beach day full of games and swimming, we are sure you will find exactly what you are searching for. With 15 beaches to choose from, here’s a quick guide for you to pick the best beach to explore first!

Champlin’s Choice

Crescent Beach

Kick off your day by fueling up with a breakfast sandwich or pastry at Champlin’s Café Boutique, before grabbing a bike and peddling over to Crescent Beach. Arguably one of Block’s most popular beaches, Crescent Beach is great for day trippers and weekend warriors alike. It’s no wonder that it draws a crowd with its pristine white sand coastline which attracts locals, tourists, families and solo beachgoers.

The Mohegan Bluffs

Feeling Breezy? The seaward facing Mohegan Bluffs are a place like no other that will leave you speechless. We promise that the moderate trek is worth the one-of-a-kind views. Once you walk down 100+ steps to access the sandy beach, you will look up at magnificent bold cliffs that provide a unique perspective, unlike anything else in New England. Play in the crashing surf, stretch out your towel and soak up the sun and impressive landscape. After a day of relaxing on the beach, head back to Champlin’s in time for an iced cold mudslide and our daily live music, which features a unique lineup of local talent.

Black Rock Beach

Grab your surfboard, and hang ten at Black Rock Beach! A hidden gem on the South side of Block Island is home to some of the most surfable waves. This unique beach is not accessible by car, so bring your sandals and be prepared to walk a short distance down to the sandy shore. Pack your sunscreen and get ready for a day of play that will leave you salty, sunkissed, and satisfied! Head on home to Champlin’s and grab an ice cream cone from the Sugar Shack, for the cherry on top of a perfect summer day. Black Rock might be tricky to get to but it is well worth a short hike to see this spectacular view!

Charleston Beach

Champlin’s closest beach, and our favorite sunset view, is Charleston Beach. Located just over a mile from Champlin’s, this is an easy and must-see stop to add to your itinerary. Though this isn’t a beach widely swam at, you’ll have breathtaking uninterrupted western views. This beach brings the magic at all hours of the day, providing the perfect location for all your summertime fun, water lovers, solitude seekers, and sunset chasers.
